Silk has a reputation for being delicate, but don’t worry: washing your silk scarf is easier than it seems. With a few steps and a little care, you can keep it beautiful for years. Here\u2019s how to do it at home, without the need for special products or unnecessary fears.<\/p>\n

1. Prepare the silk bath<\/h2>\n

Fill a container with cold or lukewarm water (max. 30 \u00baC). Add a few drops of mild detergent for delicate garments or for wool\/silk. Mix well.<\/p>\n

2. Immerse and move gently<\/h2>\n

Introduce the scarf and move it gently for a couple of minutes. There is no need to rub, much less twist. Just let the water do its magic.<\/p>\n

3. Rinse with care<\/h2>\n

Rinse it with cold water until all the soap is removed. Do not wring it: simply let the water flow and caress the fabric.<\/p>\n

4. Remove excess water<\/h2>\n

Place the scarf on a clean towel and roll it up gently. This will absorb the water without damaging the fiber. Do not wring or twist.<\/p>\n

5. Dry outdoors, but in the shade<\/h2>\n

Spread it on a flat surface, preferably on another dry towel. Avoid clothespins and direct sunlight, so that the colors remain vibrant.<\/p>\n

6. Iron with care<\/h2>\n

You can iron the scarf while it is still a little damp, with the iron on \u201csilk\u201d mode or \u201clow-medium temperature\u201d. In the case of the silk twill<\/strong> that I use in Bonito Mundo, it easily supports a slightly hotter iron (like the one you would use for cotton), as long as you do not leave the iron still on the fabric.
If it gives you more security, place a thin cloth between the silk and the iron.<\/p>\n
